Madison Marcolla recognized for Wooden Award

When it comes to tee times and hitting down the middle of the fairway, Mu Chapter is very lucky to include both Madison Marcolla (07) and Lindsey Haupt (06) on our roster. Both are members of the MU Women's Golf Team and are not only excellent golfers, but also members of DG who continuously donate their time and efforts for the house.
Madison has been recognized by the NCAA for this and is a 2009 semifinalist for the Wooden Award. Read the article below from the Mizzou Athletics Homepage to find out more about her awesome achievement!

Mizzou junior Madison Marcolla was one of 25 semifinalist for the Wooden Citizenship Cup, an award given for the most outstanding role model among athletes.

The Wooden Cup is given to a collegiate and a professional athlete who have made the greatest positive influence in the lives of others. The 2009 Collegiate Wooden Cup recipient will be announced at the award ceremony Jan. 19.

Finalists for the collegiate division include:Zak Boggs (Soccer, University of South Florida), Colt McCoy (Football, University of Texas), Brianna O'Donnell (Field Hockey, University of North Carolina), Rebecca Poskin (Soccer Dartmouth College) and Melissa Schellberg (Softball, Harvard University). The award recipients will be announced at a ceremony held at Atlanta's East Lake Golf Club on Wednesday, January 19.

Founded by Athletes for a Better World (ABW), a non-profit organization committed to changing the culture of American sports, the Wooden Cup is unique in that it is open to athletes in all collegiate and professional sports.

Nominations come from every conference in the NCAA.
The Wooden Cup is named in honor of John Wooden, one of the most successful coaches in collegiate history. Wooden's legacy as a person of integrity, high moral character, compassion, and civic-mindedness continues to make him one of the most admired coaches in the history of sport.

Recipients of the Coach Wooden Citizenship Cup are chosen by a committee chaired by Vincent Dooley, former University of Georgia athletic director, and other distinguished individuals involved in athletics across the country

Congrats Madison, way to be a DG!

Mark your calendars with these important dates!

In-house members of Mu Chapter move in on Sunday so we thought we would give you a quick outlook for our plans for the second semester!

Greek Week 2010 will be upon us before we know it. During the last two weeks of school Mu chapter courted the men of AEPi/PhiDelt, PiKap/Theta Chi, and AgSig/PhiPsi. At the end of the courting period DG was matched up with PiKap/Theta Chi! We are so excited for this pairing and can't wait to get to know the two chapters better. Watch out Greektown, DG sports are ready to dominate! If you are interested in being a beneficiary for this year's Mizzou Greek Week click this link to learn more http://mugreeklife.com/page.php?parent_id=&page_id=119507 or just follow Greek Week updates on Twitter at MUGreekWeek!

Also, RAMS (Rockin Against Multiple Sclerosis) is going to be taking over campus once school starts again. Breanna Hance (08) and Brooke Schupan (08) were voted as DG's liaisons. The girls are busy organizing the house for fundraising events and the big lip sync competition! Can't wait to see what theme the girls take on this year.

Keystone Ski Trip!

Thanks to a ridiculously long winter break, Mu Chapter DGs were able to hit the slopes of Keystone Colorado from Jan. 4-9.

Lifestyles organized a trip of 1,700 Mizzou students and thanks to Lifestyles reps Maggie Parks (06) and Kathryn Bergmann (08), DGs from each pledge class were able to join in. Check out some of our photos from the trip below!

Members of the 07' and 08' pledge classes who live in the DG Annex pose together for a picture in their condo in River Run village in Keystone, Colorado.

Allie Fryrear (07) and Emily Donoho (07) sit together on the gondola ride up the mountain.
