Greek Week Comes to an End

Greek Week has been in full swing all month and now sadly comes to end. A special thanks to all of the girls who put in countless hours for Greek Week ‘10! Overall, DGs donated tons of time for great service sites around Columbia, contributed thousands and thousands of food items for local families in need, donated blood at what ends up being the largest blood drive year after year, flaunted our artistic abilities on stage and our athletic abilities on the field, raised thousands of dollars for our individual beneficiary this year: The UCP Easter Seals, and had tons of fun while doing it all!

SERVICE:
Stephanie Faerber (08) organized over 40 girls volunteering their Saturday afternoon to a variety of service sites such as Special Olympics, Day of Service, and Caring for Columbia.
A special thanks to Breanna Hance (08): Our pairing placed 3rd in the annual Food Drive, bringing in over 3,200 canned food items. Altogether the drive brought in over 21,000lbs of food for families in Columbia! For comparison, last year’s drive brought in just under 9,000lbs of food, (more than doubled our numbers) GOOD WORK! And thanks to everyone who helped us reach these totals.
We donated four baskets full of household goods for the Necessity Drive.

DG named Greek Week 2011 Director

Great news, friends & family! Kelly Nelson, a junior Delta Gamma who was recently a member of the 2010 Greek Week Steering Committee, was just named one of four Directors of Greek Week 2011! It's a huge honor and we know she will do great! And, to show you just how great she is and lucky we are to have her, check out this year's fantastic Fling intro video starring our lovely actress of a sister.

Sidenote as just a little bit of background information: The theme of the skits was "Children's Books", which may clarify some things for you :) Enjoy!

Mu Chapter style!

Mu Chapter alum, Chelsea Lee (05), won a shirt design contest for Delta Gamma. Her design will be the official Delta Gamma international recruitment t-shirt that chapters accross the country will wear to represent DG! We know the girls of Mu Chapter will definitely be wanting one...

DG dominates Derby Days

Guess who won Sigma Chi's philanthropy Derby Days? Yup, that's right - the lovely ladies of Delta Gamma. Congrats girls, way to have fun and raise some money for a great cause!

That's Katie Reichenbach (09) and Mamey Roope (09) posing for a pic before their dodgeball game.

Some sophomore and freshman pledge class members 'throw it up' at Sigma Chi's philanthropy games.

Foundation Update

Want to know what the Delta Gamma's have been doing this semester for foundation projects - then check this post out!

Throughout the semester girls have been rotating taking turns spending an afternoon once a week at Candlelight Lodge retirement community. Members spend Tuesday afternoons painting resident's nails, playing games, and sometimes just talking. Mu members will continue to do this weekly through the end of the semester.

Last Monday members also worked on a project specifically for Service For Sight. VP of Foundation Kathryn Bergmann (08) bought supplies to make touch and feel books for blind children. Members glued string to coloring books to outline pictures and create images. Kathryn then sent the work to schools for the blind in St. Louis and Kansas City.

Also Mu alum Danielle Hohmeier (05) is the volunteer coordinator for the Delta Gamma Center's 2010 Run for Sight. The run is one of the Center's biggest fundraisers and helps raise a lot of money for children with visial impairments. Mu members are working to organize a few girls to take the trip to St. Louis to help out. If you are interested in participating, the run is Sunday, May 2nd). For more info and to get registered to run, check out the site at http://dgckids.org/runforsight/.

Mu wins PPD Award

Congrats Mu! Yesterday the chapter was notified it met all of the requirements to receive the 2009 Patricia Peterson Danielson Award. The award recognizes chapters for their excellence in membership, finance, scholarship, foundation, chapter operations, housing, rituals, chapter programming, and alumni relations. The award criteria present an excellent opportunity for chapter evaluation as well as identification of strengths. Mu will be recognized at Convention 2010 in Denver, and receive a special plaque and the congratulations of the Fraternity!

Thanks for all the hard work from our advisers and current chapter members.

Support Mizzou's Spring Blood Drive - locations across Missouri!

Just around the corner
is Greek Week and Mu Chapter is busy working on plans, but we need your help!

The Greek Week Blood Drive is looking for volunteers - us DGs will man the check-in tables, and you can help out by stopping by to donate blood and give us something to do! Don't worry our members will be donating blood as well after they volunteer, but for this blood drive to be a success we need all the donors we can get.

No worries for those of you outside of Columbia. There are locations for people to give to benefit Mizzou's Spring Blood Drive in St. Louis, Kansas City, Cape Girardeau, Fairview Heights, Kirksville, and St. Joseph.

If you live near one of those areas or know people in those areas please ask them to go give blood. You can find the specific locations and dates for your city at:

http://www.donateblood.com/files/Rulebook_GKWK_2010.pdf

Have a safe and fun rest of spring break and we will see you all at the Blood Drive on the 7th and 8th!
