Doing Good Across Greektown

Though Anchorsplash isn't until Fall, DG is still looking to 'do good' through Greek Life philanthropy competitions. The chapter will focus on participation in three main events; Simga Chi's Derby Days, Pi Kappa Alpha's Pikestock, and Delta Upsilon's Campus Town Races. Interest groups from the Mu Chapter will also join in on almost every other philanthropy taking place. So we thought we would give you an update about our philanthropy participation so far...

On March 14 Delta Gamma had six teams participating in Pikestock. Our team's played great despite the cold, muddy weather and, most importantly, all the girls had a good time supporting a good cause. Check out this link to a Maneater article which features the Delta Gamma Pikestock banner and a summary of the event.

Nicole Lee (08), Sarah Lum (08), Jamie Pietroburgo (08) and Taylor Nyhan (08) pose for a picture before playing volleyball.

The Freshman vs. the Sophomores - Two of Delta Gamma's teams played each other in volleyball during Pikestock on March 14.

This semester some of Mu's members also organized an interest group of Phi Delta Theta's Phunky Phi Disco. This '70s themed bash was held at the Empire Roller Rink, and all attendees were encouraged to dress in their disco best and be prepared for relays, limbo and an array of party games. Follow this link to learn more about what the money raised at the event went toward.

Check back later in the semester for more post about Delta Gamma philanthropic activities - we are always out there looking to 'do good'!

I was so homesick my freshman year, and I was considering transferring.  If it wasn't for moving into DG and meeting the most amazing girls, I wouldn't be the person I am today.  College has been a real growing and learning experience for me, and I wouldn't change any of it.  I love the girls that have come into my life and couldn't imagine life without them."
2) What about DG will you miss the most?
"EVERYTHING. I am a senior and live two doors down from the house... I practically life there! I eat breakfast every morning with Bobby and lunch with the live-in girls. Whenever I am missing home, I go to DG. It is my home and it always be."

GW Fling Try-Outs

Fling Directors: Molly Bradshaw (08), Amy Voloto (08), and Katie Pusateri (06) are hard to work brainstorming skit details with our GW partners at Pi Kappa Phi and Theta Chi.

The overall GW theme is Children’s Books and our pairing’s theme is Madeline. Skit try-outs held earlier this week brought tons of talent together to jump-start the practicing. It will be very exciting to see what these girls put together!

A 12-minute act on one of the three Fling Preliminary evenings will conclude with a “cliffhanger ending”. We hope for the chance to be one of the five pairings invited to fulfill their “cliffhanger” at Finals on Friday at 7pm.

Keep up the great work girls!

GW 1st Annual Blood Drive Booth- A Success!

Changes in Greek Week 2010 Blood Drive bring a new aspect to the competition. This year’s new "Blood Drive Booth" is a huge recruiting tool to encourage individuals not participating in Greek Week to donate blood. These changes were made with the intention of reminding donors the importance of giving blood… to save lives! Sisters Gracey Roope (08) and Mamey Roope (09) took on the challenge, and are setting the bar high for years to come.

A big thanks to everyone who helped make this booth such a success!

Girls had a great time sporting the blood-decorated sailor hats while rocking out in Lowry Mall. Who said blood drives can’t be fun??!

Keep an eye out in the next edition of the Maneater for paparazzi prints.

**Satellite drive information soon to come. Here’s a way YOU can give blood at home and support DG in the spirit of Greek Week! **

Sisterhood Concert

Who doesn't love a guy who can sing and play guitar? That's what all the DGs were asking last Thursday night after Kelley James played a private concert in the Mu Chapter basement!

Sara Jane Kauffman (07) organized the performance for a special sisterhood event. Kelley James came as part of The Fraternity Tour. The Fraternity Tour brings up and coming musicians to Fraternity and Sorority houses across the nation. Check out some pictures of the event below!

Founders Day 2010

On Sunday Mu Chapter celebrated its 101st Founders Day. Founders Day is among the most honored of Delta Gamma's ritual traditions. It provides a special occasion when alumnae and collegians meet to remember the three Delta Gamma Founders and to rededicate themselves to the ideals of the Fraternity. It is also a great chance for Mu to share the events of the past year with alumni.

This year the event was planned by Sara Harris (09). The program opened with a performance of the Delta Gamma choir. After brunch President Amanda Klohmann (07) and past President Abby Warren (07) gave the State of the Chapter address and alum Danielle Hohmeier (05) did the role call of all the alumni in attendance. VP of Foundation Kathryn Bergmann (08) updated the chapter on service and philanthropy events and Director of Lectureship Breanna Hance (08) gave a preview into plans for next year's event. Afterwards Sara Harris presented the collegiate chapter awards (included below). The entire event was fantastic and visiting with alumni was an honor for current chapter members.

DGs picked to be Pi Chis

Can't believe it is already time to start thinking about Fall Recruitment 2010, but Mizzou Greek Life is hard at work preparing already! Congrats to A 2010 PI CHI (08) and A 2010 PI CHI (08) - the girls have been selected to be Panhellenic Counselors (Pi Chi) for Recruitment 2010.

Pi Chis are PHA sorority members who disaffiliate from their sorority chapters during recruitment in order to assist potential members through the formal recruitment process. We will lose the girls' help during Recruitment and Work Week, but they will surely be great leaders for all of the potential members. Way to be DGs!

PICTURE INCLUDES A 2010 PI CHI - TO BE REPOSTED AFTER RECRUITMENT

Hola from Espana

You can find an anchor no matter what city, or even foreign country you are in!

DGs are always ready for an adventure and Tracy Haden (07) and Erin Sullivan (08), both pictured above, are no exceptions. The girls are spending the semester studying abroad in Alicante, Spain. They take classes by day, explore the city by night, and are quickly learning how to put their spanish language education to use.

We miss both of them a lot, but we love hearing about their adventures and even receiving post cards (thanks Tracy) to share at chapter. The girls have already visited places like Munich and Valencia and even got the chance to join in the celebration of Carnaval. Through facebook, e-mail, blogs, and skype, we get a chance to still be a part of their exciting lives, but we can't wait for them to come back next semester and tell us all about their adventures in person!

Have fun girls, keep taking pics with anchors!
