Happy Holidays from Mu Chapter!

The women of Delta Gamma at Mizzou would like to wish you and yours a happy holiday season! We are enjoying our time away from classes to spend time at home with our family, but before our winter break began, we made time to celebrate the holidays with our sisters. Members of NMCs '10 and '11 used DG's pretty outdoor lights as a backdrop for holiday group shots.

Twilight Brings Sisters Together

Mu chapter DGs crowded Hollywood Theaters' Columbia location early Friday morning, November 18th. The sisterhood event, planned by 2012 PI CHI (NMC '10), brought sisters together for the 12:45 am showing of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn-Part 1. We filled an entire theater and many ladies channeled their favorite character with awesome costumes!

The best dressed award went to Summer Bridges and Kelsey Porter (NMC '10) who are pictured at left. They won a gift card to the theater for future movie dates.

The event was a huge success and a great start to our long Thanksgiving Break!

Happy Turkey Day!!

As Delta Gammas, we have a LOT to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. We are grateful for our founders Mary Comfort Leonard, Eva Webb Dodd, & Anna Boyd Ellington and their vision of developing a sisterhood based on the principles of leadership, friendship, philanthropy, and academic excellence. We are thankful for all the alumnae that have blazed the trail for us and continue to support DG so that we can experience all this fraternity has to offer. We are thankful for our parents and families and the constant support, both financially and emotionally, they provide us with. We are thankful for all our advisors, VPs, and directors, for their steadfast guidance and leadership. Last but not least, we are thankful for each other. Without our sisters, our college experience (and rest of our lives) would not be the same. We hope everyone has a blessed Thanksgiving!

Way to be a DG! 11/14/11

This week's Way to be a DG goes out to all who made Anchor Splash possible and, of course, a special thanks to the lovely Nikki Bracken for organizing everything!

Without all the help from our very dedicated members, things wouldn't have been such a success. Thank you again to all the coaches, seniors and everyone else for lending a helping hand!

Anchor Splash 2011

Today was Delta Gamma's annual philanthropy, Anchor Splash, benefitting the organization Service for Sight! Teams of men from the fraternities on campus joined the girls at the Mizzou Recreational Center to dress in goofy costumes and perform silly dances, as well as synchronized swimming routines. The day was filled with laughter. The DG girls had the chance to coach the men throughout the past couple weeks to ensure their dances were perfect! Winning fraternity is to be announced shortly!

DG Dad's Weekend

On October 21st and 22nd, Delta Gamma girls celebrated Dad's Weekend and invited their dads to come visit them for a fun-filled weekend in Columbia. On Friday, DG held a casino night at the chapter house. Poker tables were set up, and both the dads and daughters enjoyed a night of delicious treats and poker games. On Saturday, the girls cheered on the Tigers with their dads as Mizzou took on Oklahoma State in a gripping football game. The weekend was a huge success, and we cannot wait to invite our dads back next fall!

Mizzou Centennial Homecoming

Mizzou, the originator of the Homecoming tradition, was proud to celebrate its 100th homecoming this October. Each year, every sorority is paired with a fraternity to participate in service projects, fundraisers, a blood drive, a parade, and a theatrical production. Delta Gamma was thrilled to be paired with the men of Kappa Alpha Order for the centennial Homecoming. This year's theme was Celebrations, and our pairing's theme was Halloween. Our skit was centered around the adventures of some Halloween characters and the troubles they encounter with three witches (to the left). After hours of hard work, our skit and dance turned out great! We are also proud to have won 1st place in Service and 1st place in Merchandise. Homecoming was an overall success for all, and the ladies of Delta Gamma had a blast celebrating and making a difference. Special thanks go out to our Homecoming liaisons, Kelsey Tracy and Morgan Coleman!

Way to be a DG! 10/4/11

Every week vp: social standards Taylor Deppe presents our "Way to be a DG" award to an outstanding member (or group of members) that have contributed an exceptional amount of time and effort to the chapter and deserve special recognition at our chapter meeting! Without these girls' hard work and dedication, we wouldn't have the wonderful chapter we do today.

This week's "Way to be a DG" for the new member class goes out to Kayle Carr for organizing the new member class' PowerPoint!

And for the active members, Katie Reichenbach, PC '09 and Mercedes Ordonez, PC '10 are applauded for their efforts in organizing Lectureship this year! Once again, Delta Gamma, Mu chapter had a wonderfully successful event and loved every second of it!

Thanks again, ladies!

Delta Gamma Lectureship

This past Wednesday, one man was at the center of Delta Gamma’s attention— Aron Ralston! We selected Aron as our speaker for our annual DG Foundation in Values and Ethics Lectureship. Needless to say, he was definitely an inspiration. Aron’s heartrending story hit the big screen this past year with the release of the Oscar-nominated film, 127 Hours.

Gracey Roope (Chapter President), Aron Ralston, & Katie Reichenbach (Director of Lectureship)

Aron, a natural adventure-seeker, was hiking in a canyon in eastern Utah when an 800-pound boulder fell from above him, pinning his right arm and trapping him in a remote 3-foot wide slot for 5 days. With barely any food and water, and little hope for survival, Aron managed to free himself by using a dull pocketknife to amputate his own arm. “I did not lose my hand, but I gained my life back,” he said of the life-changing experience.

Aron’s story was truly motivating, and his encouraging words about overcoming adversity radiated throughout the entire audience. Aron reminded us that ANYTHING is possible!

Puppy Love Fundraiser

Puppy love is so addicting! So, when Delta Gammas heard of Delta Sigma Phi's fundraiser, they willingly went down the block to help raise money for Habitat for Humanity.

The sleep puppy (above) is in heaven while Carson Love (PC '10) rubs his belly.

Allie Riordan, Ali Ward and Carson Love (PC '10) play with this fluffy puppy.

Girls paid $3 to play with the adorable puppies and enjoy fellowship with the men of Delta Sigma Phi. Hotdogs, chips and drinks were also included on this gorgeous day. All proceeds - including the entry fee that Delta Gamma girls paid - went straight to Habitat for Humanity.

Delta Gammas were so enthusiastic to get together with the men of Delta Sigma Phi to contribute to their wonderful fundraiser!
